A Little Note about how we source Ingredients

We actively seek ingredients and packaging from environmentally conscious suppliers.  On this page, you'll find more about the sustainability and ethical production of each ingredient we use.  Ingredients are listed in alphabetical order by class (actives, oils, humectants, etc.) for ease of reference.

Here's just a brief overview of the most common listings you'll find below.

Fair for Life Ingredients

Ingredients with this certification ensure a living wage is paid to every pair of hands involved in production from the farmer planting the seeds and growing the crop to the harvesters who gather the crop (whether that's flowers, fruits, leaves, or seeds) and process the crop to extract the oils or distillates (hydrosols and essential oils).

Many ingredients still rely heavily on manual labor for harvesting.  For example, moringa pods are gathered by hand and split open by hand to collect moringa seeds, which are then cold pressed to create the moringa oil we use. 

EcoCert Ingredients

Crop production is dependent on Mother Nature, and the amount of energy used to plant, irrigate, and fertilize a crop varies from year to year and region to region based on rainfall and weather during a growing season. 

This is one of the reasons ECOCERT certification is so important.  Like Fair For Life, the ECOCERT certification process evaluates each step of an ingredient's production story to ensure fair wages & that each step in the ingredient's lifecycle employs environmentally friendly practices.  ECOCERT also ensures traceability throughout the entire production chain.

Zero Waste Supplier

Rain Organica's primary supplier of essential oils and botanical oils uplevels environmentally conscious and holds a Zero Waste certification from Green Business Certification, Inc.  I personally could not be more proud to use their ingredients in Rain Organica's products.  Any ingredient received from this supplier includes the designation 'Zero Waste Certified supplier' on our ingredients page.

Active Ingredients & Antioxidants

Coenzyme Q-10

A multi-functional ingredient that shields skin from the effects of UV rays and also promotes cell vitality.  Coenzyme Q-10 is an oil soluble antioxidant naturally occurring in our bodies and used abundantly in I am Enough Botanical Facial Oil.

Rain Organica uses pharma grade coenzyme Q10 produced by fermentation.

Cucumber Hydrosol

Botanical name:  Cucumis sativus hydrosol

Immensely calming and soothing for the senses (and our skin). 

Glycyrrhetinic Acid (Licorice Root) 

One of our signature ingredients. Licorice root helps relieve the appearance of redness.


Juveleven™ (Acetyl Hexapeptide-51 Amide) peptide

An exceptional peptide for our skin offering protection from environmental stressors and supporting healthy cellular turnover.  Over time, you're likely to notice a brighter complexion.

L-Carnitine 

A gentle Beta Hydroxy Acid that helps reduce your skin cell turnover rate, improving texture and appearance while also helping to restore moisture.

Niacinamide 

An incredible skin hydrating ingredient that also helps brighten skin & energize skin at a cellular level.

Preventhelia® (Diaminopropionoyl Tripeptide-33) 

Shields the skin from free radicals generated by exposure to UV and other environmental pollutants.

Resveratrol 

This potent antioxidant is shown to protect our skin against the effects of UV rays and other types of environmental damage.

Rain Organica uses resveratrol harvested from the root of wild crafted Japanese Knotweed. 

Rose Hydrosol

Botanical name:  Rosa damascena hydrosol

Soothes the skin and is purported to reduce the appearance of pores.

Telangyn™ (Acetyl Tetrapeptide-40) peptide

Helps relieve the appearance of redness.

Vitamin C (stabilized Vitamin C)

Magnesium ascorbyl phosphate and sodium ascorbyl phosphate are stable forms of Vitamin C.  Both of these forms of Vitamin C are efficacious offering the benefits of Vitamin C without the worries about breaking down during product storage.  Vitamin C is a potent antioxidant that helps shield our skin from the effects of environmental damage and UV rays.

Meadowfoam Seed Oil

Origin:  Oregon's Willamette Valley

Botanical name:  Limnanthes alba

Meadowfoam seed oil has a unique fatty acid profile, which makes it non-comedogenic, easily absorbed, and incredibly smoothing & beneficial for skin. The cold pressed oil, used in our facial care line, is rich in tocopherols (vitamin E), carotenoids (vitamin A precursors), and phytosterols.  Meadowfoam seed oil is an exceptional oil for all skin types even oily. It's sustainably harvested in the Pacific Northwest.

Pumpkin seed oil (cold pressed)

Contains high concentrations of skin nourishing phytosterols. Pumpkin seed oil is also incredibly rich in zinc, vitamin E, vitamin C, antioxidants, and omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids.

A true powerhouse ingredient. This deeply nourishing and protective oil contains potent antioxidant compounds that protect our skin from the effects of UV exposure.   Tamanu is a nut oil, and since we try to keep most of the line free of nut oils, right now, you'll find this ingredient only in our I am Enough Facial Oil.


Moisturizers

Panthenol

Binds to and holds moisture, helping skin to maintain both softness and elasticity.

Hyaluronic Acid (Sodium Hyaluronate)

Sodium hyaluronate is the water-soluble salt form of Hyaluronic Acid. This ingredient is widely used to enhance the skin's ability to absorb and retain moisture, resulting in smoother, firmer skin.

Sodium PCA 

Naturally found in our skin, Sodium PCA is one of the major components of our skin’s natural moisturising factor (NMF).

EcoCert Emulsifiers

Emulsifiers are the ingredients that help hold lotion together (otherwise, it would separate into an oil and water layer).  Rain Organica uses EcoCert plant based emulsifiers.  You'll recognize them on the product label as:

  • Glyceryl stearate (also known as glyceryl monostearate)
  • Sodium stearoyl lactylate
  • Cetearyl alcohol
  • Cetyl alcohol
  • Cetearyl glucoside
  • Sorbitan olivate
  • Cetearyl olivate

These plant based emulsifiers are clean & sustainably sourced.
